How can you use “transcription” in a sentence? Here are some example sentences to help you improve your vocabulary:
We investigated these concepts using two large data sets of transcription profiles generated in S. cerevisiae : the set of 300 expression profiles previously analyzed and a second set of over 170 expression profiles of various yeast environmental responses [ 19, 28].
A highly ordered chromatin structure presents a physical obstacle for gene transcription; presumably by limiting the access of transcription factors and RNA polymerase II core machinery to target DNA [ 82 83 ] . In concert with the observation that corepressors are associated with HDAC activities [ 84 85 ] , it appears that the transcriptional outcome of nuclear receptors is determined by the balance of histone acetylation and deacetylation activities, and that ligands serve as a switch to recruit HATs with the concomitant dismissal of HDACs.
Intestinal calcium absorption is increased after feeding a low calcium diet or under conditions of increased calcium needs, such as during growth, via a parathyroid hormone (PTH)-vitamin D mediated process [ 3 ] . A lowering of serum calcium levels stimulates the secretion of PTH that then activates the renal conversion of inactive 25-hydroxyvitamin D to the active hormonal metabolite 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D. At the intestine, 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D, acting through a nuclear receptor, stimulates transcription of vitamin D-mediated genes, including calbindin D, involved in calcium transport thereby acting as the primary hormonal regulator of active intestinal calcium transport [ 3 ] . It is thus likely that any putative key molecular player in calcium absorption, such as CaT1 or ECaC1, should be a prime target for hormonal regulation by 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D. However, to date, neither CaT1 nor ECaC1 expression has been shown to be related to serum 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D or vitamin D status [ 10 16 ] .
Several of these genes are known to encode immediate early transcription factors (for example, FosB, NAB2, ATF-3, NOT1) that are induced by a wide range of cellular stimuli, and this class of transcription factors is well known to have unstable mRNAs [ 32].
Several of the immune-response genes regulated by Rel transcription factors are dramatically induced during Drosophila aging (G.L.
