Pediatric patients with severe OCD have low levels of AVP in cerebrospinal fluid, while a subgroup of pediatric patients with compulsive checking rituals has elevated AVP levels [ 18 ] . Hence, there are many clinical examples of compulsive behavior associated with a perturbation in the AVP system.

  • The three steps in Figure 1 occur as part of a dynamic equilibrium, and perturbation of any step can shift the equilibrium, leading to transient, partial, or permanent integrin activation/inactivation depending on the extent of perturbation.

  • An alternative possibility is that they sequester an inactive stockpile of α factor that, upon mutation or signalling by the MEN, is released from these transportins and enables exit from mitosis [ 54 55 ] .
