Example sentences for: localize

How can you use “localize” in a sentence? Here are some example sentences to help you improve your vocabulary:

  • An antibody specific to a Z. mays class XI myosin was used to localize this myosin in fractions of maize proteins and maize root tip cells [ 51].

  • Spectrin and protein 4.1 form a complex with actin filaments [ 17 26 ] that may be important in signaling in additional to forming a physical link between the cytoskeletal network and the cell membrane [ 27 ] . Furthermore, PI4K activity has been shown to associate with the actin cytoskeleton by biochemical detergent extraction [ 28 ] and is thought to specifically localize with α3β1 integrin [ 29 ] . PI4K catalyzes the production of phosphatidylinositol-4-phosphate, an intermediate in multiple phosphatidylinositol signaling pathways which itself can interact with actin binding proteins to regulate microfilament polymerization [ 30 ] . Our work now suggests that the mRNAs of these proteins are all positioned in close association with the actin cytoskeleton to permit efficient localization of their protein products.

  • DNA repair activities may take place at these foci since BRCA1 has been shown to co-localize with ATR in damage-induced foci [ 58 ] . Using elegant methods to test for direct association of DNA damage checkpoint proteins at double strand breaks in vivo , other groups have shown that MEC1 Rad3-HA and LCD1 Rad26-GFP localize to sites of DNA damage [ 59 60 ] . However, MEC1 was required for this re-localization of LCD1-GFP in vivo [ 60 ] . Thus, while re-localization of Rad26/Rad3-related complexes to sites of DNA repair may be evolutionarily conserved, the regulation of these complexes is not.

  • When proteins are over-expressed they can localize non-specifically.

  • Several heat shock proteins have been found in cell nuclei in the absence of stress [ 30 ] , and alpha-crystallin has been shown to interact directly with DNA [ 18 ] . AlphaB, expressed in transfected CHO cells, has been shown to ectopically localize to interphase nuclei, suggesting a regulatory role for this protein in the nucleus [ 19 ] . A subset of immortalized lens epithelial cells from alphaBKO mice have been shown to hyperproliferate [ 20 ] suggesting that alphaB may be important in maintaining genomic stability.
