Example sentences for: genscan

How can you use “genscan” in a sentence? Here are some example sentences to help you improve your vocabulary:

  • Release 3 contains a total of 802 new protein-coding genes (Table 1), that is, gene models that show no overlap with exons in Release 2. Of these, 55 (7%) are based solely on gene-prediction data, and 20 of these 55 are based on GENSCAN predictions alone.

  • These approaches resulted in similar estimates when applied to larger sets of mRNAs or known genes, and are similar to the current 33,000 genes reported by Ensembl as having Genscan computational support and EST confirmation.

  • First, computational results derived from Genscan were not judged by their scores, as it was empirically determined that low-scoring Genscan results often correctly predicted the intron-exon structures suggested by other evidence types such as cDNAs.

  • In the absence of other supporting evidence for a gene, we used GENSCAN predictions only when at least one exon had a score > 45; this is a stringent threshold, as 21% of the genes in Release 3 with full-length cDNA evidence do not contain any exons scoring > 45.

  • GENSCAN predicted 19,189 genes.
