Example sentences for: lymphocytes

How can you use “lymphocytes” in a sentence? Here are some example sentences to help you improve your vocabulary:

  • Because MIG/CXCL9 and IP-10/CXCL10 are chemotactic for stimulated CXCR3 expressing activated T lymphocytes, we determined if neutralizing these chemokines in vivo in the SLC/CCL21-treated mice would decrease the frequency of CXCR3 expressing T cells at the tumor sites.

  • Interestingly, we could not detect appreciable amounts of I-TAC, another known ligand for CXCR3, in lung lymphocytes of control participants or those with emphysema (data not shown).

  • Synovial tissue components including lining cells, macrophages, lymphocytes, fibroblasts, smooth muscle cells and endothelial cells were graded for immunostaining by a frequency of staining scale, scored 0-100%, where 0% indicates no staining and 100% indicates that all cells were immunoreactive.

  • TSP-1 is a homotrimeric multidomain glycoprotein synthesized and secreted by numerous cell types, including platelets, vascular smooth muscle cells and keratinocytes [ 4 ] . Due to its interaction with a wide variety of proteins, TSP-1 has been implicated in a number of biological processes including coagulation, cell adhesion, the modulation of cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions, control of tumor growth and metastasis, and angiogenesis [ 10 ] . Inhibition of tumor cell proliferation has been achieved in vivo by systemic treatment with TSP-1 peptide mimetics [ 11 ] , but a correlation between primary tumor TSP-1 expression and poor prognosis has not been clearly established [ 12 ] . While there are reports that these molecules can originate from tumor cells [ 13 ] , the majority of reports have suggested that the major source of both TSP-1 and OPN is tumor-associated stroma [ 14 ] or infiltrating macrophages and lymphocytes [ 15 ] .

  • Some researchers have reported the ability of CD56 positive T cells to exhibit spontaneous killing against some of the targets such as K562 or P815, upon stimulation with IL-2 [ 22 23 24 25 ] . However Lanier and Philips who carried out extensive studies on the LAK phenomenon have emphasised that although CD16+ T cells exhibit non-MHC-restricted cytotoxicity to some targets upon IL-2 stimulation, their contribution was quantitatively and qualitatively very minimal as compared to the NK subset [ 7 11 ] . The differences in the ability of lymphocytes of different phenotypes to respond to IL-2 stimulation and carry out spontaneous lysis of different targets could probably be attributed to the differential expression of inhibitory receptors present on the targets such as KIR and CD94:NKG2 [ 26 ] .
