Example sentences for: ligand-dependent

How can you use “ligand-dependent” in a sentence? Here are some example sentences to help you improve your vocabulary:

  • These levels of ligand-dependent activation were similar to those observed with the original hammerhead aptazyme constructs, [ 21 ] and it may prove possible to use in vitro selection to further optimize activation [ 13 14 ] . However, when the time course data were fit with a single exponential equation, the rates of the initial reactions turned out to be very similar in both the presence and absence of theophylline (Table 2).

  • Interestingly, those aptazyme constructs that showed ligand-dependent activity closely resembled the original deletion variants that showed magnesium-dependent recovery of splicing activity.

  • For example, it is possible that the inhibitory effect of LG1069 in the stable CAR expressing cell line is based on the sequestration of limiting amounts of RXR into ligand-dependent homodimers, as has been suggested in previous studies using primary hepatocytes [ 17 ] . However, similar effects were observed with the relatively large amounts of RXR used for the biochemical studies or with the transient transfections, which relied on cotransfected RXR.

  • This receptor has previously been shown to elevate intracellular Ca 2+and activate CamKII in a ligand-dependent manner [ 6 37 38 ] . C57mg cells stably transformed with Rfz-2/β 2 AR retrovirus or wt C57mg cells were treated overnight with propranolol, a β 2 AR antagonist, to maintain the chimeric receptors in an inactivated state.

  • The action is mediated by specific nuclear receptor proteins, which belong to a superfamily of ligand-modulated transcription factors that regulate homeostasis, reproduction, development, and differentiation [ 87 ] . This family includes receptors for steroid hormones, thyroid hormones, hormonal forms of vitamin A and D, peroxisomal activators, and ecdysone [ 88 ] . Nuclear hormone receptors are ligand-dependent transcription factors that regulate genes critical to such biological processes as development, reproduction, and homeostasis.
