A ranking of symptoms on admission, during treatment and in the last 48 hrs was made according to our symptom assessment scale with the items: pain, gastrointestinal (nausea/emesis/intestinal obstruction), dyspnoea, anxiety/depression, fatigue/cachexia, cognitive disorder/delirium (drowsiness/agitation), bleeding, skin problems (ulcerations, oedema), neurological and others.
