Example sentences for: binding-site

How can you use “binding-site” in a sentence? Here are some example sentences to help you improve your vocabulary:

  • In principle, the binding- and cut-sites might be coincident or overlap, as for Type II restriction enzymes [ 66 ] ; in that case, cutting would destroy the binding-site and this frustrated-telomerase situation would apply.

  • The apposition of distant binding-site positions can be important to recruitment of the binding protein, for example, through formation of DNA secondary structure [ 29, 30, 31, 32], or to the interaction of the binding site with its binding protein [ 33].

  • The consideration of distance constraints between pairs of conserved sequences found many more examples than a previous study of binding-site clustering for multiple transcription factors in S. cerevisiae [ 22 ] . In addition, we discovered new sequences and pairwise interaction terms using regression models similar to those reported in [ 20 ] and [ 21 ] (Table 3).

  • Computational approaches can therefore be used to detect and model the sequence patterns present within the binding-site variability.

  • Direct biological models of binding-site organization in TCRs, as exemplified by conserved word-pair templates, provided several advantages over naive statistical models based on sequence combinations in S. cerevisiae . Average gene-expression profiles showed that conserved word pairs were more specific predictors of gene expression (giving fewer false positives) than single or pairwise sequences derived from S. cerevisiae , indicating that conserved regions among these closely related Saccharomyces species were enriched for functional sequences.
