Patterns of non-coding sequence evolution
The relative gene order in this region is also highly conserved in many bacteria, especially the Gram-positives [ 11 ] . Although intergenic sequences in this region are conserved only among closely related organisms, the DnaA box is found in the non-coding regions flanking dnaA in most bacteria studied [ 12 ] .
