Example sentences for: mispairing

How can you use “mispairing” in a sentence? Here are some example sentences to help you improve your vocabulary:

  • Oxoguanine has become the benchmark for oxidative DNA modifications; it is arguably the most important mutagenic lesion in DNA (mispairing with adenine during chromosomal replications causes GC → TA transversions) [ 24 ] . It is suggested that untoward oxidative stresses to DNA prompt cell-cycle delay, antiapoptotic, and repair responses.

  • Comparative genomic analysis and cloning expression showed that the length of the polyG tract of pmpG 10 varies between strains and within an isolate [ 12 13 ] . Furthermore, variation of the length of polyG has been demonstrated that it plays a role in the differential expression of PmpG 10 [ 12 ] . Variability in short nucleotide repeats generated via slipped strand mispairing are key elements in the generation of phenotypic diversity within many pathogenic microorganisms [ 18 ] . Further investigation will be required to determine if the expression of members of the Cpn 1054 gene family is affected by the observed variability in length of the polyC tract.

  • The formation of these cytogenetic abnormalities is mediated by low-copy repeated sequences, or duplicons [ 1 ] . High sequence homology between copies presumably facilitates mispairing and unequal recombination events in meiosis.

  • These VNTRs have been observed throughout the prokaryotic and eukaryotic kingdoms [ 14 15 ] . The addition or deletion of repeat units within a locus is believed to be caused by slipped-strand nucleotide mispairing, and/or unequal crossover events which increase the rate of mutation at these loci [ 16 ] . The variations in the number of repeats give rise to molecular alleles for a given locus and aid in the characterization of the individual.

  • Slip-strand mispairing is believed to be an important factor in generating tandem repeat polymorphisms [ 16 ] . Misalignment of DNA strands during chromosome replication is thought to lead to the addition or deletion of repeat units.
