It likely that such high signal lesions on MR images represent ischemic small vessel disease, however, there are no neuropathological-radiological correlative studies confirming this assumption.
Exclusion criteria parallel those of the Siblings With Ischemic Stroke Study (SWISS) [ 24 ] . Patients who are already enrolled in SWISS are not eligible for participation in ISGS.
