Example sentences for: gene-expression

How can you use “gene-expression” in a sentence? Here are some example sentences to help you improve your vocabulary:

  • The slight discrepancy in beta-tubulin levels between rat and mouse may reflect species variability in gene-expression levels, or the failure to identify all alternative 3' ends of the beta-tubulin message by microSAGE.

  • Cells derived from the same individual and cultured under the same conditions always showed highly similar gene-expression patterns, suggesting that the differences in expression between individuals are stable and reproducible despite passage in vitro (Figure 3).

  • EST datasets have been used recently to extract information on gene-expression levels [ 39 40 41 ] . The underlying assumption of such a 'digital northern' analysis is that the number of EST clones is proportional to the abundance of the mRNA used for constructing the library [ 42 ] . Most Arabidopsis EST collections are derived from non-normalized cDNA libraries, making them useful for this purpose [ 43 ] . We recorded the number of EST hits from the MIPS summary report link or by BLAST searches with the Arabidopsis EST database for each clone in our stress collection.

  • We adopted a group-by-sequence approach to first identify genes that contained the word-pair templates and then to test for significant associations with expression levels of the identified genes [ 27 ] . Significant associations between conserved word-pair templates and specific gene-expression changes and the prevalence of known transcription factor binding sites suggest that conserved word-pair templates comprise sequences important for multifactorial regulation in yeast.

  • We will survey examples of word-pair templates associated with gene-expression changes, focusing our attention on several environmental stress conditions.
