Example sentences for: endonucleases

How can you use “endonucleases” in a sentence? Here are some example sentences to help you improve your vocabulary:

  • Structural comparisons using the DALI program [ 20], indicated that the core fold shared by the KilA-N and APSES domains is more distantly related to the LAGLIDADG site-specific DNA endonucleases and the amino-terminal domain of the tRNA splicing endonucleases (TEN domain) (Figure 1b) [ 21].

  • Even small proteins may contain several individual domains that link them to different superfamilies [ 2 ] . While many endonucleases share a common active site that is highly conserved across many subfamilies, identifying residues that control substrate specificity requires sophisticated analysis that combines both sequence conservation and structural data [ 3 4 5 ] .

  • Inteins without this domain perform autocatalytic splicing [ 15 16 ] . Homing endonucleases and the process of homing have been more intensively studied in self splicing introns [ 17 ] , and the process is assumed to be similar for inteins.

  • We digested previously isolated lambda genomic clones of the human FGF8 region [ 22 ] with restriction endonucleases (Promega, Madison, WI) and analyzed them by Southern blotting using a mouse Npm3 cDNA [ 21 ] probe, as previously described [ 20 ] . An 8.4-kb Xho I fragment from these clones that hybridized to the probe was subcloned into pBluescript (Stratagene) for analysis.

  • We noticed, however, that, although the TEN domain is related to the LAGLIDADG endonucleases, the active-site residues are not preserved in the former, and the TEN domain probably functions as a RNA-binding domain rather than a nuclease.
