The membrane-bound precursor and soluble forms of heparin-binding epidermal growth factor-like growth factor (HB-EGF) contribute to a variety of cellular developmental processes [ 1 ] . These observations suggested that the CD9 antigen and proHB-EGF likely interact physically on the cell surface.
