Example sentences for: dilatation

How can you use “dilatation” in a sentence? Here are some example sentences to help you improve your vocabulary:

  • Figure 6Hshows that neither surface (white asterisk) nor significant vascular LHR immunoreactivity (white arrowhead) was detected in placentae with extreme dilatation of villous sinusoids (aged placental phenotype [ 52 ] ).

  • Other features observed more often in A-GVHD with statistically significant differences as compared to the negative control groups included (Table 2and 4, Figure 2): pericryptal apoptosis adjacent to the crypts in LP, crypt abnormalities (including crypt size variation, crypt dilatation and irregular crypt distribution), reactive changes in LP (including reduced mucosal thickness, muciphages in LP, increased microvessel network, and focal fibrosis), and reactive changes in the surface epithelium with mucin depletion.

  • Microscopy revealed dilatation of sinuses, increased pigmentation and elevated concentration of macrophages.

  • During the third trimester, and after 34-36 weeks of pregnancy in particular, the placenta may develop an abnormality, often classified as placental aging [ 19 20 21 22 23 24 ] . These abnormal placentae are characterized by generalized interstitial fibrosis and fibrinoid degeneration of villous stroma, and are associated with cellular apoptosis and congestion of villous sinusoids [ 24 25 26 27 ] . Immunohistochemically, villous abnormality is associated with progressive diminution of Thy-1 differentiation protein in the villous core [ 28 ] . Marked changes in villous structure are particularly associated with advanced maternal age [ 29 30 ] . We have recently reported that, with respect to the Thy-1 expression, compensatory dilatation of villous sinusoids, and placental expression of low molecular weight cyclin E variants, the term placentae can be classified into four placental types (PT1-PT4) [ 30 ] , where PT4 corresponds to the most severe placental abnormality.

  • When analysing the haemodynamic data, a difficulty can arise in interpreting the pulmonary capillary wedge pressure increase; whether this change is due to an increase in left ventricular preload that follows the increase in venous return, or to a decrease in left ventricular compliance as a result of the leftward shift of the interventricular septum for right ventricular dilatation [ 16, 22].
