Example sentences for: cutoffs

How can you use “cutoffs” in a sentence? Here are some example sentences to help you improve your vocabulary:

  • As different types of analysis will require slightly different cutoffs (see below), we refer to the region near the left base of the main peak as the 'transition region', and to the precise cutoff value selected for a given analysis as the 'transition point' (Figure 3b).

  • For many of the clusters discussed below, the membership cutoffs were empirically chosen to select genes that had coherent gene expression patterns over a given subset of the experiments.

  • Other genes likely to be missed are genes with small ORFs (because of the arbitrary length cutoffs we used, see Materials and methods), and genes expressed transiently during development, at very low levels, and/or in cells and tissues not represented by the DGC cDNA libraries.

  • We do not have factor specific cutoffs, and use a locally defined background model, which renders our algorithm more automatic and less sensitive to local variation in sequence composition, eg poly A runs.

  • The precise EPP values to use as the cutoffs for trinary assignment are user-specified in the software, but we recommend using the most stringent values, 0% and 100%, for most analyses.
