How can you use “cuisines” in a sentence? Here are some example sentences to help you improve your vocabulary:

  • Wrangham and Conklin-Brittain (2003) support the view that prepared cuisines based on cooked foods are one of the defining characteristics of humans.

  • On the other hand, "national cuisines" are largely artificial constructs: You won't find a "French" restaurant in France for obvious reasons.

  • Reference-style cookbooks, such as Fannie Farmer, range fairly broadly over the American basics, but if you want to get higher-end than that, you're hard-pressed to find anything but books devoted to individual cuisines.
