How can you use “allusions” in a sentence? Here are some example sentences to help you improve your vocabulary:

  • It is hard to imagine anyone, regardless of sex, enjoying being referred to as a Johnny-come-lately . The self-styled humorists could have a field day with this one, too, suggesting “She's a Jacquelyn of all trades” or the sexless Robin Crusoe . I looked up in the dictionary section a few of the allusions that cannot really be paraphrased.

  • All such Robin Hood allusions have long since been extinguished.
