Example sentences for: vasodilation

How can you use “vasodilation” in a sentence? Here are some example sentences to help you improve your vocabulary:

  • The vasodilator effect of acetazolamide on the cerebral vasculature has been characterized by both PET and transcranial Doppler (TCD) studies [ 21 22 ] . At a dose of 15 mg/kg the effect of acetazolamide is thought to be supramaximal with maximal cerebral vasodilation induced within about 20 minutes.

  • Biological functions attributed to NO include vasodilation [ 47], inhibition of platelet adhesion and aggregation [ 48], reduction of expression of adhesion molecules and chemokines [ 49, 50, 51, 52], and suppression of cell growth and migration [ 53, 54].

  • Acetazolamide, on the other hand, was hypothesized to identify areas of decreased cerebral perfusion following maximal cerebral vasodilation in Fabry disease compared to controls.

  • The regulation of lumenal diameter in large arteries is accomplished through the maintenance of shear stress along the arterial wall [ 38 50 51 52 53 54 ] . As blood flow through an artery increases, shear is also increased, and the endothelium releases nitric oxide for vasodilation [ 55 ] . Chronically, the arterial wall will remodel to a larger diameter to accommodate the increased flow [ 38 ] . While we did not measure arterial flow through these iron deficient arteries, the enhanced inotropic compensation to iron deficiency, combined with the enlarged aortic diameter, leads us to suspect a flow dependent mechanism for remodeling.

  • A prolonged half time to recovery has been associated with a decreased nitric oxide and prostanoid production [ 8 ] and a loss of endothelium dependent vasodilation [ 9 ] . Reduced vascular reactivity is associated with many diseases that are associated with aging [ 15 16 17 ] . We did not find activity effects on half time to recovery.
