Chronically, the arterial wall will remodel to a larger diameter to accommodate the increased flow [ 38 ] . While we did not measure arterial flow through these iron deficient arteries, the enhanced inotropic compensation to iron deficiency, combined with the enlarged aortic diameter, leads us to suspect a flow dependent mechanism for remodeling.
