Example sentences for: pre-m

How can you use “pre-m” in a sentence? Here are some example sentences to help you improve your vocabulary:

  • Our studies on nmt55 and those of p54 nrbhave characterized this protein as an RNA binding protein with the ability to associate with Topoisomerase I and the polypyrimidine tract-binding protein associated splicing factor (PSF) [ 16 17 18 19 20 ] . Further, we observed the association of nmt55/p54 nrbwith several splicing factors known to be essential for spliceosome formation suggesting a role for nmt55/p54 nrbin pre-mRNA splicing (unpublished results).

  • Recently, it was suggested that NF1 exon skipping events could be explained by structural alterations in possible higher free-energy structures of the pre-mRNA at the donor site [ 19 ] . Here in, it was hypothesised that when an alternative structure is too different from the lowest free-energy structure (ground state) this sequence is not recognised by the splicing machinery and that, as a consequence, the corresponding exon becomes skipped.

  • RNA-binding proteins have been found to participate in many cellular functions, including RNA transcription, pre-mRNA processing, mRNA transport, localization, translation and stability [ 20 ] . A role for the DAZ family in the regulation of mRNA translation is supported by lines of circumstantial evidence, including the association of DAZL with polyribosomes [ 12 ] . The absence of DAZAP1 from polyribosomes indicates that it is not directly involved in protein synthesis.

  • The methylation of arginine residues has been shown to take place in other pre-mRNA splicing proteins though the role of this modification is unknown [ 38 ] . One approach to determine the presence of a point mutation or a splice variant is to perform PCR coupled with sequencing techniques.

  • The finding of a similar motif in rRNA genes for which there is neither a requirement to incorporate amino acid phase distribution nor to invoke exon-shuffling provides support for the idea that a proto-splice site for intron insertion not only exists in Euascomycetes rRNA but also may exist in pre-mRNA genes.
