How can you use “parentheses” in a sentence? Here are some example sentences to help you improve your vocabulary:

  • Entries followed by a letter in parentheses are data from other studies (the letter indicates the reference, see footnote to the table).

  • The phylogenetic level number for each group is shown in red preceding the phylogenetic group name, and common name information, where available, is shown in black text in parentheses after the group name.
