How can you use “evidence-based” in a sentence? Here are some example sentences to help you improve your vocabulary:

  • Studies suggest that a wide gap exists between the 2 minutes clinicians typically allot to seeking evidence [ 2 ] and the amount of time needed to search MEDLINE [ 4 12 13 ] . Indeed, "some have likened MEDLINE searching to attempting to drink water from a fire hose" [ 15 ] . Although MEDLINE is certainly more difficult to search than other resources recommended for evidence-based medicine, the other resources, in aggregate, probably require excessive time to search if they are searched in sequence as recommended.

  • It is therefore useful to have evidence-based guidelines for estimating the minimum number of occasions required to obtain a given degree of reliability for a particular analyte.

  • In addition, the researchers had expertise and experience in evidence-based medicine, research design and methodology.

  • All were case reports or case series—but under the current paradigm adopted by most journals and evidence-based databases, they would not be valued [5,6,7].

  • Of course they are wrong about the latter claim, but nothing in these standard definitions of EBM tells us why homeopathy fails to be evidence-based medicine.
