Example sentences for: cross-validation

How can you use “cross-validation” in a sentence? Here are some example sentences to help you improve your vocabulary:

  • Given this difference in ANC cutoff point and the difference in chemotherapy regimens used in the two samples, the absolute predicted probabilities of events resulting from the cross-validation might not be interpretable, but their relative magnitude (or ranking of patients by predicted probability of an event) is valid.

  • In a typical cross-validation analysis (i) the data are randomly split into ten samples each with 10% of the data, (ii) one of the 10% samples is deleted, (iii) the statistic is computed by applying the classification rule recalculated from the remaining 90% of the sample to the deleted 10% sample and (iv) an average is taken of the statistic over all ten 10% samples [ 22 ] . Although one could use a different fraction than 10%, ROC computation it is not possible with the most extreme version of cross-validation that involves leaving out one subject at a time.

  • As a check for cross-validation, the accuracy with which the models predicted the perceived impact subscale values using the model building data set was compared to the accuracy achieved with the testing data set.

  • Cross-validation experiments in which only a subset of promoters was used suggest that additional sequences similar to those in the current set of 1,841 would not further improve the results significantly (data not shown).

  • We carried out five cross-validation experiments on the new dataset, setting aside one-fifth as a test set and taking the remaining four-fifths for training.
